HUMMINGBIRDS August 2007 - 36 photos
I have been trying for close-up photos of hummingbirds for a long time. A friend sent me some photos he took and I decided it was time to get it done. At first I didn't have much luck. Couldn't get close enough, couldn't get the lighting right, and they didn't come around when I was ready to shoot.
Decided to use my external speedlite flash for lighting and tried using some patience that I learned getting the rabbit pictures. It worked, but I had to wait long periods for them to return. When I was moving around, they would disappear.
Things finally went as I wanted and over a period of a few days I managed to take a few hundred pictures. Here on these pages I have posted some of the better ones.

These photos were taken with my Canon EOS 20D, 8.2 Megapixel SLR Camera using either the Canon EF 70-300mm IS Telephoto zoom lens or the Canon EF 100-400mm IS Telephoto zoom lens. I used one or the other on different days. I wanted to compare these two lenses.
These photos are set to lower resolution and compressed 10:1 for faster loading. You are welcome to look at or download any of the photos. If you use them on any other webpage, please give credit and refer back to me.
