March 28th, 2004, five members of our group hiked the trail to the overlook above Elephant Head. It was a long walk, about nine miles round trip. We saw one Coyote way off in the distance, running across the beach towards the water, and a total of three Buffalo. It was a beautiful day and many folk were there riding horses or mountain bikes. Some of our group took kites to fly, as there is always a good breeze at the point.

A few of the photos in this set were taken on a later date when I went to the island alone, flowers, the older buffalo and calf and the coyote closeups.

The Elephant Head photos were taken with a Canon EOS 300D, (Digital Rebel)
6.3 Megapixel SLR Camera, with wide angle to 2x optical zoom. Some of these
photos were taken with the Canon EF 100- 400mm Telephoto Zoom lens, (3x
to 13x) The original photos were taken at 3072x2048. These photos are now set
to 750 x 500 for faster loading. You are welcome to look at or download any
